Johann Gutenburg: In 1450, he invented a movable metal type of letters. The first type of printing was it being carved into a block of wood. The metal type could be rearranged and used again and again to form lines and pages of text. The first book he published was a translation of the Bible. The original paper of the 1300s was made of linen rags. Printing was also used by the government to communicate with all of their subjects which was better than orally communicating. With that, the new printing led to a spread of ideas and knowledge.
