Weakened [weak-en-ed] ’Äì to make weak or weaker
Weakened relates to the standard because the Catholic Church was weakened and later divided.

Divided [di-vid-ed] ’Äì separate, separated
Divided relates to the standard because once the Catholic Church was weakened it was eventually divided.

Political Power [po-lit-i-cal pow-er] ’Äì the amount of power politics has on a government
Political power relates to the standard because many people questioned if the Church should have so much power. When this happened the church divided.
