Martin Luther-
Martin Luther was born in 1483. He was a significant leader of the Reformation, or a religious movement to reform the Catholic Church.He was also a German monk.One day he was trapped in a vicious thunderstorm as a young man and vowed that if he were to survive the storm, he would become a monk. Keeping his promise and after surviving the storm, he entered a monastery. He wrote a list of theories that criticized the sale of indulgences, known as the 95 theses.The pope excommunicated him in 1521. He formed the first translation of the Bible into German in 1534.
John Calvin-
He was born in France in 1509. He was a French scholar and was one of the most significant of the new Protestant leaders. Published The Institute of Christian Religion in the year 1536. His most significant teaching was predestination. Set up a theocracy, or a government ruled by religious leaders.
William Tyndale-
He printed an English paraphrase of the New Testament in the Bible, which assisted bring Reformation thoughts to England. He was pleased of his role in spreading the word of God. He was tried for heresy by the Catholic Church and was burned at the stake.
